Founder, Gateway Engineering

Philip Vaglica, an accomplished Italian architect, is the founding member of the firm. Renowned for his talents relating to reinforced concrete in the construction of multi-story buildings, his international career spans over five decades and four continents. Mr. Vaglica has consistently enriched the company’s abilities to provide quality services through his extensive architectural background. He oversees and serves in a supervisory role regarding every project the firm is involved with. With over 40 years in the construction and development industry, his experience encompasses projects with virtually every core property type: commercial, retail, multi-tenant residential, industrial, hotel-resort properties, city sewer systems, and a host of international projects. He has also been involved in the design and construction of hundreds of single-family homes, both in Europe and the United States.

Joseph Vaglica, P.E. is a graduate of Wayne State University, Detroit Michigan, and holds a Bachelors, Masters and PH.D. in Civil Engineering. He has 20+ years of experience in civil design, architectural and structural engineering and testing.  His vast knowledge includes, but is not limited to, Design/Management of Civil Engineering Projects, bid-award and design build contract documents, flood plain management, design and management of residential, commercial and industrial projects. Joseph mobilizes his experience to enhance our future generations as the Director and Founder of Wayne State University’s Construction Management Program and as an Adjunct Faculty Member at the University of Detroit Mercy. Joseph also brings to the table his experience as a Licensed Master Builder and Real Estate Broker.

Arnold Narumiya is a staff architectural designer with a ‘B.S. in Architecture’ from Lawrence Tech University (Southfield, Mich.).  Also a prior licensed residential builder, I support the team  synergy with a diverse professional background in the areas of architecture, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical engineering, interior design, millwork, shop drawing, and residential design environments that included such project types varying from commercial (malls, offices, restaurants, taverns, bars); industrial (manufacturing/production plants); hospitality (hotels, motels); educational (schools, community centers); religious (churches); and residential (multi-family/single family homes).

Deanna brings Gateway Engineering a varied background in the fields of banking management, education, entrepreneurship, and a bit of marketing along the way. As our Director, she is your contact to handle all financial matters such as client billing, accounts payable, payroll and scheduling. She oversees the Gateway website and the overall esthetic of our daily operations. She also has her assistant Charlie Chaplin who will be your official welcome when visiting us here at Gateway Engineering!
